The holidays are my absolute favorite time of the year. I’m one of those annoying people that turns up the Christmas music once Halloween is over and done. Mommy Helpers
To-do lists use to be my thang. I loved the feeling of checking off a task once it was completed. It was proof that I was an actual productive and accomplished person!
Then I became a mom.
The checkmarks became more and more infrequent and the list always got longer. The number of hours in a day seemed to get shorter. My to-do lists became useless and I needed to find another solution.

The Randall Museum of San Francisco

This week I wanted to highlight the Randall Museum in Corona Heights Park (near the Castro). This museum is owned by San Francisco’s Recreation and Parks Department and was designed to be “a place that would foster a love of science, natural history, and the arts.”

Alemany Farmers’ Market
My parents owned a restaurant when I was growing up so I remember visiting the Alemany Farmers’ Market many Saturday mornings. Some call this spot the “People’s Market” as it was the first Farmers’ Market in California and continues to maintain its authentic feel. Its less trendy than other Farmers’ Markets but still offers low prices and 100+ local vendors. Wanting to share my upbringing with Caleb’s, I decide to bring him here one Saturday morning.

Exploratorium
I’ve been meaning to visit the new Exploratorium since it opened its new location at Pier 15. However, since its new address sits between some crowded tourist hotspots, I never felt a visit was worth the hassle. But when you have friends that are engineers with 2 toddler daughters and are visiting the city on Pi Day, there’s nowhere else more perfect to take them than the Exploratorium.
San Francisco Classes That Offer Free Trials
I recently signed Caleb up for a youth sports program. Since it was one of the few programs that offer classes for someone his age, I was willing to overlook the cost of it. However, I was so disappointed to only get some stretches, a few hops, and maybe a jump here or there. I definitely didn’t get my money’s worth out of those classes.
Frustrated, I decided to do some research and came up with the following list of businesses that offer free trial classes. Learn from my mistake and make sure to test before paying!

24th & York Mini Park in the Mission
What do you think when someone mentions San Francisco’s Mission district? Delicious taquerias? Sweet smell of coffee beans? How about one of the tiniest yet most amazing parks? Squeezed between Latino markets and dive bars is the 24th and York Street Mini Park. Blink and you’ll miss it but what it lacks in space, the park sure makes up in character.
I am in love with this hidden gem because it has such beautiful murals and mosaics. Sometimes I sit back and am just in awe of the colors and designs that cover the walls and structures.

The Children’s Creativity Museum
My first business review is for The Children’s Creativity Museum. I love this museum because it appeals to both out-of-towners and San Francisco residents.
List of Montessori Preschools in San Francisco
Note: I wrote this article during Spring 2015 so some info (particularly the tuition) may already be outdated. However, it gives you a good baseline to start with.
I remember reading an article about how stressful getting into New York City preschools were. Not only does it cost a million dollars to attend but parents had to sign up for the waitlist the moment they saw a light blue line on their pregnancy test. “This is ridiculous,” I thought!
Then I moved to San Francisco … was thrust into the Preschool Olympics… and that article became my life …. and those parents didn’t seem so silly anymore…
